Today we are featuring our first strategic partner for 2018- Impact hub. We held our first Open Space event, which focused on branding strategy, on their Nyaniba Estates’ premises.
Founded in 2013, Impact Hub Accra (IHA) is at the center of a growing entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in Ghana, a critical support system for many of the city’s young entrepreneurs and a hot bed of co-creation and innovation. IHA believes that nurturing entrepreneurs is not only a way to turn great ideas into reality, but also a way to combat youth unemployment and build generational wealth.
Evidence of this commitment to be the main catalyst for Ghanaian entrepreneurs and businesses to succeed includes a recent visit to their premises by French President Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by the Dutch Prime Minister Mr. Mark Rutte who came to meet and interact with social entrepreneurs from Ghana. As well as, German Chancellor Angela Merkel (accompanied by the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Muller, GIZ CEO Tanja Gonner and a delegation of nearly a dozen German CEOs) stopping by during her 3 day visit to Ghana in August, to discuss how to increase innovation and support local entrepreneurs.
At the base, IHA offers a collaborative workspace, access to internet, conference rooms and a range of other hard to find but needed services to maximize productivity gains. Looking deeper, accelerator and incubator programs, exposure to new ideas, pitch and leadership workshops, curated events, opportunity to design and prototype in their Makerspace and more are also part of the daily and tailored offerings at IHA. In addition to supporting local entrepreneurs, IHA also provides a ‘soft-landing’ for overseas start-ups doing business in Ghana.
Impact Hub Accra is part of the Impact Hub Network, an association of more than a 100 hubs around the world dedicated to making the world a better place through entrepreneurship. Leveraging on local roots and global connections, they work with a diverse range of partners across multiple ecosystems, including yours truly.
We’re proud of our partners and Impact Hub is no exception. They offer a great, spacious area for working efficiently, interacting with like-minded individuals and even a funky coffee spot all within their abode. Workspace will continue to feature our partners’ stories from time to time so stay tuned!
